What Items can be engraved in this service?

The Brooklyn Scirbe holds special importance in engraving a wide range of items, including fragrance bottles, glassware, candle holders, business card holders, and various glass or metal items.

Is there any item where engraving isn't done?

Yes, the engraving isn't done on textured or frosted glass, and certain pressurized bottles (like champagne).

Do I need to provide my item for engraving?

Yes, the cost of engraving only covers the service; the customer should provide the item or product.

How do I send or deliver my item for engraving?

To send or deliver your item for engraving, you must follow the given steps:

  • Ship it directly to the studio after purchasing from an online retailer

  • If located in New York, you can drop it off at a local coffee shop or use Uber Connect for delivery

What is the turnaround time for engraved orders?

Engraving is typically completed within 5-7 business days after the item is received.

How much is the overall cost of engraving?

The engraving service starts from $65, with the pricing depending on service type.

Can I engrave text on curved surfaces like bottles?

Yes, you can engrave on flat or curved surfaces, such as bottles, with names, dates, proposals, or other messages.

What kind of factors determine the final cost for the engraving? 

Pricing may vary based on word count (e.g., 1-4 words vs 5-6 words for fragrance bottles) and bottle value (e.g., under or over $150). Additional charges may be applicable.

Can I pick up my engraved item?

Yes, if you're in NYC, in-person pickup is an option; otherwise, items are returned via ground shipping (typically 5–7 business days).

How do I ensure my personalization is correct?

Review your inscription carefully before purchase, engraving will proceed exactly as submitted.

Calligraphy

What is the turnaround time for a calligraphy commission?

  • A handwritten love letter typically takes 3 to 5 business days.

  • For wedding calligraphy services, please allow three weeks after receiving the stationery. Delays may occur during peak wedding season (June–September) so planning is highly recommended. 

Do you offer custom framing for calligraphy pieces?

No, framing is not currently offered. However, the Brooklyn Scribe can recommend a few local framing shops. 

Do I need to provide my paper for calligraphy?

For handwritten love letters, paper and an envelope are supplied. For all other calligraphy projects, you must provide your stationery, and please include an extra 20%, to allow for possible errors, additions, or revisions. 

Which stationery is suitable for calligraphy?

Some envelopes may cause ink to bleed. Please verify with your stationery provider that your paper and envelopes are appropriate for calligraphy. 

What kind of calligraphy services are available?

The Brooklyn Scribe offers hand-written calligraphy for a variety of uses, including love letters, wedding invitations, place cards, envelope addressing, wedding vows, and more. 

How does the calligraphy ordering process work?

  • Purchase the appropriate listing (e.g., love letter, invitation, envelope addressing).

  • Email the content you want written indicate any words to appear larger or any floral sketch preferences. The calligraphy will reflect exactly what is provided, modeled after the style shown.

  • Production and shipping typically take 5 to 7 days. 

What are the starting prices for calligraphy services?

  • Handwritten Love Letter: from $100

  • Wedding Invitations: from $125, with complete invitation suites and other suite components available at higher tier pricing (e.g., menus, details cards) 

Can I order multiple items in bulk (like place cards or envelopes)?

Yes! The service supports orders such as unique wedding place cards and addressed envelopes in various quantities, with pricing scales accordingly. 

Is live calligraphy available for events?

Yes. On-site live calligraphy is offered as part of a live events package, priced at $750 for a 5-hour event (minimum 3 hours). This service is perfect for letters, cards, boxes, and other creative touches at weddings or brand activations.

Live Events

What is included in your live events service?

The Brooklyn Scribe offers on-site personalization through live engraving (e.g., on fragrance bottles, glassware) and live calligraphy (e.g., on letters, cards, boxes) at your event.

What are your pricing and time requirements?

  • Live Engraving: $950 for a 5-hour event

  • Live Calligraphy: $750 for a 5-hour event

A minimum of 3 hours is required—pricing scales accordingly.

What do I need to provide at the event?

You are responsible for supplying:

  • A table and chair for setup

  • The items to be personalized (like bottles, cards, etc.)

Is access to a power outlet necessary?

No. The engraving equipment is battery-powered, allowing flexibility in placement—even indoors without nearby outlets.

What types of items can you personalize on-site?

Glass & Metal: Fragrance, lipsticks, cutlery, chargers, makeup mirrors, etc.

The service is highly versatile—any similar glass or metal item can usually be handled.

How do I request or book a live event?

Email hello@thebrooklynscribe.com or click the "Inquire" button on the Live Events page to check availability and discuss your item types. Optionally, mail a few samples so you can preview the engraving or calligraphy style. Once the date is confirmed, a contract (and any necessary tax forms) will be sent to you to finalize the process.

Do we have to stay near you during the event?

You don't need to stay right beside the station. Once the setup is complete, guests can come by, and you can circulate and check in as needed.

Can you personalize non-traditional or unconventional items?

Absolutely, The Brooklyn Scribe is experienced in engraving and lettering on unusual surfaces. Just confirm the material and surface type in advance so the approach can be tailored accordingly.

What's the overall experience like?

Is the setup complicated or time-consuming?
